M3 Creative Academy's Guitar Class helps kids love music. Specifically, they will love making music. For the past nine years, M3 Creative Academy has found the right ways to help students go beyond boring practice sessions and tedious exercises and enjoy making music independently.

Our Guitar Class is an ongoing class that helps students explore the art of playing the guitar. Each class session will teach skills, technique, and theory while engaging students with positive feedback in order to make progress toward proficiency.

Beyond each 45 minute class, students will have access to instructional videos to help them play every song in our program.

Guitar Classes Charter School Registration

Instructions for Charter School families

M3 Creative Academy is happy to work in coordination with several public charter schools from Southern California. We are current providers for Sage Oak Charter School, Excel Academy, Springs Charter Schools, and Sky Mountain Charter School. Fill out this form to hold your spot in the class and request purchase orders be entered for your student. The cost is a flat rate of $96 per month. Once we receive the purchase order, we will send you a code to join our secure learning area at no additional cost to you. Please note that you will need to enter a credit card when registering and be charged for any periods of service not covered by a purchase order. Thanks!

Guitar Class offers students instruction in what is typically learned during the first year of one-on-one lessons, but with the fun of having friends around, and for a fraction of the cost.

Each class session will cover all of the following elements

Music Appreciation and Listening
Music Theory
Guitar Technique
Songs That Are Enjoyable To Each Unique Student

Teacher Expertise

Matt Murray will be the primary teacher for the class. He has a Bachelor of Music from Chapman University and over 20 years experience as a music educator. He is also the founder of M3 Creative Academy and lead instructor for the studio. Occasionally, our other staff members versed in piano will fill in while Matt is unavailable.

Homework

No homework is required, but we hope your kids don't think practicing is homework. We like to encourage our students to play outside of class during the week. To help students have fun and advance toward proficiency, we offer short video lessons for all songs they will be playing.

Also, there are no assignments for technique or theory. We will send a link to listen again to the classical music shared in class, but again, listening is optional.

Students will need a six-string guitar, acoustic or electric. Used guitars are fine, but please make sure they are in good repair and able to be tuned.

Also, please provide an electric tuner.

How Do We Encourage Progress

Our entire Guitar Class program is broken into 14 levels, and at the completion of each level, students will earn a colorful button mailed directly to you. Students can earn other buttons by participating in studio-wide events like virtual recitals and studio nights.

Time Commitment Per Week

Each class session will last 45 minutes. Beyond that, there is no requirement to practice. However, parents often want their children to practice outside of class so we recommend between 10 and 20 minutes each day. Practice will need to increase as a student's skills increase, but we find that consistency is more effective.

Parental Guidance

Students may need help getting set up and logged into their class, or accessing videos from our program. Parents are not expected to help with instruction.
